Steve’s Why
My younger brother Kenny was born with Down Syndrome. While he was attending school in DeKalb County, I helped start a Boy Scout troop specifically for boys with developmental disabilities. During his teenage years, I also volunteered as a coach for Special Olympics, focusing on swimming and track & field.
When our parents’ health declined, my wife and I welcomed Kenny into our home. Eventually, we were able to get him into Hope Haven, and we are incredibly grateful for the support and care he receives there.
